Gardaí in Dublin have identified the teenagers who racially abused a young Kerry woman in Dublin’s city centre last month. Una-Minh Kavanagh was born in Vietnam but was adopted as a baby by a Kerry family. The 21-year-old journalist, who’s from Tralee and working in Dublin, was spat at and racially abused as she waited for a friend in Dublin city centre. She immediately reported the incident to the Gardaí. Speaking at the time Una-Minh said this was not an isolated incident:Audio: [audio_player src=”http://media.radiokerry.ie/mediamanager/embed/audio/8914/medium/”] It’s understood that all of the young men involved in the incident were identified by CCTV footage, and procedings may be brought by the Director of Public Prosecutions. Ms Kavanagh says she’s been overwhelmed by the messages of support she received from members of the public, since her story received extensive media coverage. She says she hopes her experience will encourage other victims of racial abuse, to report the matters to the Gardaí.
