Yellow weather warning in place for Kerry

A yellow weather warning is in place for five counties today, including Kerry.

There’s a rainfall warning for Clare, Galway, Mayo, Limerick and Kerry, with up to 20mm possible, especially in upland areas.

The warning is in effect now and expires at midnight tonight.

There’s also a yellow gale warning for west and south coasts.

Meanwhile, hikers and hill-walkers are being warned to be prepared for blustery conditions on Carrauntoohil today.

There are two Met-Eireann weather warnings affecting mountainous regions of Kerry and Cork with up to 60mm of rain and winds gusting up to 110 km per hour.

Kerry Mountain Rescue’s Colm Burke says days like these can be dangerous on Ireland’s highest mountain.
