World Stroke Awareness Day with Eddie Hennessy – October 23rd, 2019

This Tuesday marks World stroke awareness day, so today on In Conversation we will be increasing the awareness around strokes. Each year, approximately 10,000 Irish people have a stroke and around 2,000 die – more deaths than breast cancer, prostate cancer and bowel cancer combined. Joe McGill featured an interview with stroke survivor Eddie Hennessy. Eddie is a professional photographer and was a national champion in Judo who represented his country on numerous occasions; Eddie always had an interest in photography but it wasn’t until he suffered from a major stroke in 2008 at the age of 33 that he had a different outlook on life and strangely enough it gave him the opportunity to pursue this interest and he hasn’t looked back since.
