Work to begin on Tralee/Tarbert power line.

Work on a 110 kv power line from Tralee to Tarbert is set to begin this summer. The construction will take over 12 months to complete. The power line has been a controversial proposal with some landowners calling for it to be undergrounded. In November An Bord Pleanala gave the line the go ahead subject to 10 conditions after a number of local landowners objected.ESB now says preliminary designs for the 110 kv line are being drawn up and work is set to begin later this year. Work on the 46 kilometre power line is scheduled for completion in autumn of 2005. According to ESB a code of conduct has been agreed with the IFA on how to progress building projects and the work wll be carried out with this in mind.
