West Kerryman arrested on human trafficking and money laundering charges in Greece

The mother of a West Kerryman facing charges of human trafficking and money laundering has spoken of meeting her son for the first time since his arrest.

24-year-old Sean Binder, who grew up in Castlegregory, was arrested on the Greek island of Lesbos on suspicion of human trafficking, money laundering, espionage and being a member of a criminal organisation.

Sean had been working on the island with an NGO, Emergency Response Centre International where he was assisting migrants and refugees.

His mother Fanny arrived in Greece last night and today met Sean who’s being detained in the capital city of Lesbos.

Sean, who’s 24 years old, has a Masters in International Relations theory at the London School of Economics.

He was arrested with a colleague.

Fanny says her son has a deep social conscience.
