A West Kerry student has been named as one of the winners of a national young translators’ contest.

Aistritheoirí Óga is an annual translation contest organised by the European Commission and Irish Government.

It’s open to pupils attending Irish language schools who are at least 15, and is part of an effort to raise awareness of the status of Irish as an official language of the European Union.

The best translation from English to Irish for Munster was Hannah Ní Shearcaigh from Coláiste Íde, Dingle.
