Weekend Irish Racing Preview

Horse 8IRISH RACING WEEKEND PREVIEWS Venue: FAIRYHOUSE Date: 20 December 2014 First race: 12.05 (7 Races – Jumps) Going: Soft (Soft to Heavy in places) “Un De Sceaux out to make amends for Thurles spill at Fairyhouse” •THERE is a pre-Christmas treat for all racing fans at Fairyhouse on Saturday as they get a glimpse of the hugely-exciting Un De Sceaux who went through his hurdling career unbeaten – winning all seven starts in stunning style. •Un De Sceaux’s chasing debut was going perfectly to script at Thurles last month until three from home when he took a crashing fall but his jumping before that was exceptional and he won’t be a big price to make amends in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Beginnners Chase (12.05). The advice to racegoers is not to be late as Un De Sceaux is first up on the menu. •Ruby Walsh and Willie Mullins team up with plenty of chances on the card and Val De Ferbet looks sure to be popular with punters in the Promote Your Business At Fairyhouse in 2015 Beginners Chase (12.35). •The seven-race jumps card at Fairyhouse begins at 12.05. IRISH RACING PREVIEW Venue: THURLES Date: 21 December 2014 First race: 12.20 (7 Races – Jumps) Going: Heavy “Can Kauto Grand Mogol deliver for Doyle at Thurles?” •The last Irish meeting before the St Stephen’s Day extravaganza takes place at Thurles on Sunday where they host a seven-race jumps card beginning at 12.20. •Just four go to post for the Exit 6 To The Horse & Jockey Rated Novice Hurdle (2.20) and it looks an ideal opportunity for the Liz Doyle-trained Kauto Grand Mogol to return to winning ways after he found the step up to Grade 2 company too hot to handle at Navan last time when fourth to Free Expression. •Few could begrudge a victory for Mallards In Flight in the Molony Cup Handicap Chase (12.50) as Gavin Cromwell’s charge has been second on his last three starts and certainly deserves a change of luck.
