1pm – Walkers who were attempting to walk a section of the old rail line between Limerick and Tralee yesterday were blocked at the Kerry border by a group of individuals.  The stand-off lasted for over three hours and Gardai were at the scene.  Councillor Denis Stack of Listowel Town Council has confirmed that he was in attendance but declined to make a statement on the matter.  The old rail line has been developed as a walkway in County Limerick –  known as the Great Southern Trail – and there are hopes to extend it into Kerry.  Yesterday marked the 50th anniversary of the last train to run on the line,  and the walk was held to commemorate the journey. Chairman of the Great Southern Trail Liam O’Mahony says the incident was a disappointment: [audio_player src=”http://media.radiokerry.ie/mediamanager/embed/audio/2192/medium/”]
