Vodafone has apologised to a Kerry man who was pursued for a debt he didn’t owe the company.
John, who got in contact with Radio Kerry, had been a landline and mobile customer with Vodafone for many years but last year changed to another provider.
However, Vodafone sent him a bill for over €400 for breach of contract despite the agreement having long lapsed.
The company employed a debt collection agency to follow up the matter.
John says the tone of the letters and phone calls from this agency was aggressive and put him under pressure:
Meanwhile, Vodafone has apologised to the customer.
The company says this is a highly irregular situation and is not up to Vodafone’s high standards in customer care.
In this case, Vodafone identified an error and is reviewing its systems to ensure this doesn’t happen again.
