Visually impaired runners to run 8 minute mile in Tralee

Members of the public in Tralee are being invited to join two visually impaired runners who will today begin an attempt to run an 8 minute mile in 32 counties within 32 hours. Caroline Casey and Tony Ward will be supported by Rotary Clubs in Ireland and the Irish Air Corp who will transport them between destinations.They hope to raise 100,000 for several charities including Blind Sports Ireland, The Jack and Jill Foundation and a Northern Ireland Inclusion Group. Caroline and Tony will arrive at Kerry General Hospital by helicopter shortly before 5pm and will follow a route to the Castle Street/ Ashe Street roundabout.The challenge also has an important message for people with disabilities, according to Caroline Casey.
