Visitor restrictions at UHK due to vomiting bug

Strict visitor restrictions are again in place at University Hospital Kerry due to an outbreak of the vomiting bug.

Management say a number of patients have confirmed norovirus and the restrictions are in place in the interest of patient care and in order to curb the spread of the virus.

Visiting is closed to all medical wards and members of the public wanting to visit the Muckross, Sceilig, Rathass, Ardagh and Dinish wards must have prior approval from ward managers.

Visitors to other wards are asked to adhere to visiting hours and use alcohol hand gels before and after their visit.

Anyone who has had vomiting or diarrhoea or been in contact with someone who has is asked not to visit until symptom free for 72 hours.

Anyone with questions is asked to contact the hospital in advance.
