Victims of bus crash are laid to rest in County Meath

The funeral masses of two of the victims of Mondays bus crash in County Meath have taken place. Hundreds of people have attended requiem masses for seventeen year olds Deirdre Scanlon and Claire McCluskey. The Taoiseach and President are being represented at both funerals. 15-year-olds Sinead Ledwidge and Lisa Callan will be laid to rest this afternoon, while the fifth victim, 15-year-old Aimee McCabe will be buried tomorrow.The father of one of the victims Deirdre Scanlon is a native of West Kerry. Pete Scanlon is originally from Lispole, he moved to Navan in the 1960’s with his parents Jack and Catherine. Dierdre was a regular visitor to Lispole over the years along with her parents Pete and Rosie and sister Catriona. Fr Peter Farrelly recalled one memory of Deirdre before a Meath / Kerry football game.
