Valentia Observatory and Shannon Airport both reported their driest summer since 2006, with seasonal rainfall totals of 211.1 mm and 166.3 mm, respectively. Dry conditions were recorded at Valentia Observatory during each of the three months of summer. Shannon Airport reported below average rainfall in June and July but above average rainfall in August, reporting its wettest August in five years. Valentia Observatory also reported its sunniest summer since 1968. This August was the sunniest one recorded in Valentia since 2003.
