University Hospital Kerry awarded end-of-life care quality improvement award

University Hospital Kerry has been honoured with a Hospice Friendly Hospitals Quality Improvement Award.

Following a national callout, UHK received a grant of €1,000 to further develop their end-of-life and bereavement care.

The aim of the project is to design and implement individualised care plans for patients at the end of life who are out in the community in Kerry and who have to attend the hospital’s Emergency Department.

The Hospice Friendly Hospitals Programme is an initiative of the Irish Hospice Foundation and aims to ensure that hospitals take a strategic and focused approach to improve end-of-life and bereavement care.
