The U.S. chargé d’affaires Reece Smyth predicts increased investment in Kerry by U.S. companies.
Mr. Smyth, whose role is essentially that of intern US ambassador has been meeting with Kerry Group and Kerry County Council.
They discussed U.S. investment and Mr. Smyth believes companies are starting to look beyond Dublin.
Mr. Smyth doesn’t believe Ireland is being negatively affected by Donald Trump’s decision to lower corporation tax in the U.S.
No U.S. ambassador has been appointed to Ireland since Mr. Trump became President over 18 months ago.
On the issue of appointing an ambassador, Reece Smyth says they’re just waiting on a vetting issue.
