CBS Primary Tralee is to get a two-storey extension to mark its 60th anniversary.
The new building will include four new classrooms, a special educational needs unit and administration area.
Construction works will begin after Easter and it is expected to be completed by 2020.
Staff and pupils will then benefit from the most modern teaching and learning environment available, including an upgrade to the school’s ICT system.
Prefabs classrooms will also be removed and will be replaced by a new fenced play area at the rear of the school.
Principal of CBS Primary Tralee Denis Coleman, says they have waited 12 years for this, adding it will result in a safer, more modern facility.
