The food safety watchdog says two restaurants in Kerry were served with closure orders last month.
According to the Food Safety Authority of Ireland, environmental health officers in the HSE served the orders.
The two restaurants are the Mr Kebab takeaway of Greenfields, Firies and Bite Time restaurant and café in Main Street, Lixnaw.
The closure orders were served under regulations for the control of foodstuffs.
In Mr Kebab, the environmental health officer found a failure to maintain the premises in a hygienic condition.
Other issues included a leaking water heater and lack of evidence of a food safety management system.
A spokesman for Mr Kebab says a boiler leak has been fixed and the takeaway has reopened.
The environmental health officer found mouse droppings on the floor of the hot press in the back preparation area of Bite Time in Lixnaw.
Other issues included a failure to maintain the premises in a hygienic condition.
Radio Kerry has contacted Bite Time in Lixnaw for a comment.
