TTC allows proposal to rezone land at Ballyrickard Court

Tralee Town Council has decided to allow a proposal to rezone land behind Ballyrickard Court in the town to fall. Residents in the area are opposed to any development of the land that may result in access being made through their estate. Tralee Town Council owns the site and it is not in a position to dispose of the field which has been the source of anti-social behaviour in recent months. It was agreed last month that a council liaison officer would meet with the residents of Ballyrickard Court and Kerins’s Park to discuss the options that may be open with a view to settling this ongoing problem. The land at the back of the two estates is a gathering place for delinquents who have been responsible for anti-social behaviour with the most serious incident being at Hallowe’en when major disturbances took place. On the recommendation of the Mayor of Tralee, Cllr Terry O’Brien, the Town Clerk Michael Scannell and the Town Manager Michael McMahon, the proposal to rezone the land is to be dropped for the time being. The consultation process is to get underway again with a public meeting scheduled for Monday the 24th of April.
