Tributes paid to the late 103 year old Mary Guiney

Tributes are being paid today in North Kerry and West Limerick in memory of the late Mary Guiney, Chairwoman of the Clerys retail empire. Mrs Guiney who died yesterday at the age of one hundred and three, was the widow of Brosna man Denis Guiney, who established the Guineys shopping chain and made the Clerys store in Dublin one of Ireland`s most profitable businesses. The death of the West Limerick woman marks the end of an era in Ireland`s retail trade. Tom Roche Principal of Knockaclarig National School where Denis Guiney was a pupil recalled some fond memories.
