Trial of two men charged in connection with Waterville Post Office robbery to start tomorrow

A jury has been sworn in at Tralee Circuit Criminal Court in the trial of two men charged in connection with the robbery of a post office in south Kerry.

38-year-old Marcus O’Rourke and 32-year-old Brian O’Sullivan entered pleas of not guilty in relation to four offences connected to the robbery at Waterville Post Office in August last year.

The trial will begin tomorrow.
Marcus O’Rourke with an address at Rathanane, Kilcummin and Brian O’Sullivan of Coolies, Muckross, Killarney are both charged in connection with a robbery at Waterville Post Office on August 3rd last.


They are pleading not guilty in relation to four offences.

These offences relate to the robbery of an unknown amount of cash from Waterville post mistress Lisa O’Reilly Foran; possession of a firearm – or imitation firearm – with intent to commit an offence; ramming a garda car which created a substantial risk of death or serious harm, and damaging property.

The court heard the trial is expected to last two weeks, with Judge Tom O’Donnell presiding.
