Trial date fixed for Waterville Post Office raid accused

 Two men charged in connection with a robbery at a post office in south Kerry are set to go on trial next month.

Brian O’Sullivan of Coolies, Muckross, Killarney and Marcus O’Rourke with an address at Rathanane, Kilcummin are both charged in connection with a robbery at Waterville Post Office in August.

32-year old Brian O’Sullivan and 36-year-old Marcus O’Rourke are both charged with four offences in connection with a robbery at Waterville Post Office on August 3rd last.

The offences relate to the robbery of cash to the value of approximately €5,000 from Waterville post mistress Lisa O’Reilly Foran; ramming a garda car; possession of a firearm – or imitation firearm – with intent to commit an offence; and damaging garda property.

Both men, who have been in custody since August, appeared at a special sitting of Tralee Circuit Criminal Court yesterday, where a trial date was fixed for February 15th.

Judge Tom O’Donnell heard the trial would take approximately one week. The accused men will be represented by barristers Mark Nicholas and Richard Liston, instructed by Nuala Liston.
