Transfer Station charges to remain the same

Kerry County Council has rejected a motion to reduce the current charge of 10 euro at transfer stations. The Council says there is no justification for a reduction and that if customers were charged on a true weight basis, they would be paying well in excess of 10 euro per visit.Cllr Tom Sheehan says customers who visit transfer stations every week pay 200 euro more per annum than customers who have their refuse collected. The council says feedback they have received from customers has been positive and that the majority of customers wait until they have a number of bags to dispose of.
