Tralee’s Mall to close for a week ahead of Denny Street becoming two-way

Motorists are being warned there’ll be a week where both the Mall in Tralee will be closed to traffic and Denny Street will still be one-way.

It’s part of the €1.7 million improvement works to Tralee town centre.

The Mall will close to traffic from the 24th of April up until November for its redevelopment into a shared space.

Denny Street will become two-way; however, this won’t happen until the 1st of May, meaning there’ll be a week from the 24th of April where both the Mall will be closed to traffic and Denny Street will still be one-way.

Kerry County Council engineer Eamon Scanlan says it’s unavoidable.

The council hopes that when the refurbishment works are complete, more people will walk into Tralee town centre, instead of bringing their cars in.

Council engineer Eamon Scanlan acknowledges though that it’ll be a challenge.

Meanwhile, Tralee Municipal District councillors have allocated €95,000 to resurface Denny Street following the completion of the works, as well as €80,000 for upgrading the footpaths in Tralee.
