Tralee woman is fined €250 for Garda assault

A 25 year old woman with a history of acute depression and a victim of domestic abuse was fined 250 euro for assaulting a Garda at today`s sitting of Tralee District Court. The incident took place during last year`s Rose of Tralee Festival. The court heard that garda Foley was headbutted in the nose outside Tralee Garda Station while she was attempting to bring another person into station whom she had arrested.Inspector Barry O Rouke told Judge Terence Finn that there was a connection between the accused Terri Burton and the person under arrest. Defence Counsel Niall Lucey told the court Terri Burton was taking considerable medication for acute depression and was at a low ebb in her life at the time. He informed Judge Terence Finn Terri Burton had moved from Buckhamshire in England and was a victim of domestic abuse from both her father and husband. Judge Finn noted the medical condition of the client but said Ms Burton had attempted to interfere with a Garda operation when she had no cause. Terri Burton was fined 250 euro.
