A Tralee woman says she is delighted to have made her way into the history books by becoming the first Kerry woman to swim the English Channel.
Elaine Burrows Dillane completed the momentous challenge in 12 hours and 45 minutes; she left from Kent in England yesterday morning and arrived in France at 8pm last night.
She completed the historic swim in aid of Brain Tumour Ireland and has already raised over €14,000; Elaine chose that charity in honour of a family friend who was diagnosed with a brain tumour and went on to make a full recovery.
She was determined to complete the challenge and says nothing was going to get in her way once she set out yesterday.
