IT Tralee will implement corrective measures in relation to gender imbalances if needed

IT Tralee says it’ll implement corrective measures in relation to gender imbalances, if needed.

A policy announced by the Technological Higher Education Association commits all institutes of Technology to address imbalances in sectors traditionally dominated by one gender.

The Institute of Technology Tralee is one of several colleges nationwide that hasn’t yet applied for the Athena Swan Bronze Award, the benchmark for gender equality in the STEM industries.

Project Lead at the ITT, Dr Helena McMahon, says the college has implemented many principals set out by the award already.

She adds that, through the application process, any areas which are shown to be deficient will be addressed.
