Tralee Racecourse could be re-zoned for offices, a hotel, or a recreation or exhibition hall.
The proposal is being made in the Tralee Municipal District plan, which is currently on public display.
The draft Tralee Municipal District Local Area Plan is proposing Tralee Racecourse be zoned as C6 (Enterprise).
A number of commercial uses may be considered when lands are zoned as C6, including offices, a hotel, a recreation/exhibition hall, in addition to other job creation uses.
The draft plan is currently on public display, and people can make submissions or observations on it up until the 31st of May.
The council is urging people to get involved and make their views known on this plan and the variation to the Tralee Town Plan.
Cllr Jim Finucane raised the racecourse at the Tralee Municipal District meeting, where he called on the council to look at the racecourse’s designation and its potential use as an economic driver.
