Tralee murder victims son is arrested in Cork

The son of Michael Faulkner has appeared in court this morning in relation to public order offences. Murder victim Michael Faulkner was laid to rest yesterday in Knocnaheeny in Cork City. Appearing before Judge Terence Finn was 19 year old Robert Faulkner. The court was told that Mr Faulkner had travelled to Cork to attend the funeral of his murdered father Michael Faulkner yesterday.Giving evidence to the court arresting Officer David Noonan of Watercourse Road Gardai said he arrested Robert Faulkner at 10:30 pm on Thomas Davis Street last night for three public order offences. After arresting the defendant Garda Noonan discovered that a bench warrant had been issued for Robert Faulkner in February 2002. The judge then inquired why the Gardai had not arrested Mr Faulkner on foot of the bench warrant and was told Robert Faulkner had been in England for much of the interim period.However Robert Faulkner was charged under section 4, 6 and 8 of the public order act. Bail was set at 150 euro on condition that Robert Faulkner signs on daily at Tralee Garda Station. Robert Faulkner is due to appear in court again on September the 2nd.
