Tralee industrial school survivor says Pope needs to hold accountable those responsible for abuse cover up

A former resident of a Tralee industrial school hopes Pope Francis will hold people to account over their actions surrounding the scandal.

The Pontiff will meet abuse survivors this weekend.

Whistle-blower John Prior says he wants the Pontiff to acknowledge the cover up and make people answerable for their actions.

Mr Prior was abused as a child in St Joseph’s Industrial School in Tralee which was run by the Christian Brothers.

He says he’ll reserve judgment until he hears what the Pontiff has to say.

However, John Prior says he hopes the Pope acknowledges the failings and holds accountable those at the top of the Catholic Church who covered up the scandal.
