A Tralee boy has graduated as an honorary garda.

Adam Roche received the accolade through Little Blue Heroes, a charitable foundation operated voluntarily by gardaí to help families who have children with serious illnesses.

Seven-year-old Adam suffers from severe haemophilia, a condition where the ability of blood to clot is severely reduced, causing the sufferer to bleed severely from even a slight injury.

On Wednesday, Adam and his parents Rebecca and Maurice and twin sister Grace, along with Tralee Garda Niall O’Connor travelled to Garda Headquarters in Dublin, where Adam graduated.

He’s now an honorary Garda for life, and will undertake duties including going out on patrol with Tralee gardaí.
