Tourism Minister could become next EU Commissioner

There`s growing speculation in Leinster house that Tourism Minister John O Donohue could become Ireland`s next EU Commissioner. Minister O Donohue is one of a number of Cabinet Ministers being tipped for the position. Yesterday Taoiseach Bertie Ahern moved to end speculation that Finance Minister Charlie Mc Creevy is in line for the job. He is expected to make an announcement on the job within the next two weeks. If Minister O Donohue were to accept the position it would mean, there would have to be a bye election in South Kerry. Parliamentary Correspondent with the Irish Times Michael O Regan says Minister O Donoghes name has become more prominent in the last 24 hours.
