Three climbers rescued close to summit of Carrauntoohill

Three climbers have been rescued from Carrauntoohill. Snow Rescue KMR Two men and a woman called for assistance when they became isolated on a steep area close to the summit at around 4 o’clock yesterday afternoon. The Irish Coast Guard helicopter from Shannon was dispatched carrying members of Kerry’s Mountain Rescue Team to the peak of the mountain. The team then abseiled down to the ledge where the climbers were stranded. The three were secured and assisted by the Kerry Mountain Rescue Team in reaching a safe location at the summit. None of the three climbers was injured in the operation, and despite the cold conditions they experienced, all were able to walk from the mountain bringing the rescue callout to a close at 9pm.
