Thefts from vehicles in South-West nearly double in one month

Thefts from vehicles in the South-West have nearly doubled in one month.

The Garda Press Office says there were 170 thefts from vehicles in Cork, Limerick and Kerry during the month of August.

This is an increase of approximately 90 incidents on July’s figures.

Gardaí are urging owners to ensure their vehicle is locked, alarmed and parked in a secure, well-lit location.

Figures from their ‘Park Smart’ appeal at the beginning of the year showed that nearly 1 in every 3 cars that were broken into were left unlocked.
