Kerry woman jetting off to European Basketball Championships

A Kerry basketballer is getting ready to line out for Ireland in Cyprus this week. Aine McKenna, who’s from Duagh and plays with Glanmire in Cork, is part of the Irish squad for the FIBA European Championship for Small Countries. That begins in Cyprus tomorrow. Aine is one of the Kerry connections to the team: head coach James Weldon is from Fossa, while the main sponsor of the Irish side, US-based Gotham Drywall, is owned by Ballinskelligs man John Fitzpatrick.
