Could this weekend's success on the track be a turning point for athletics in Ireland?

Ireland finished second in the women's 4x200m at the World Relay Finals in Poland this evening, capping off a strong couple of days for the team overall.

The quartet consisting of Aoife Lynch, Kate Doherty, Sarah Quinn, and Sophie Becker ran a time of 1:35:93, smashing the national record in the process.

Following the exploits of our 4x400m mixed team over the last 24 hours, who finished seventh in the final and booked a place at the Olympic Games, this is another big boost for Irish Athletics.
