Tenders sought for new Dingle Community School

Tenders are to be sought shortly for the new Dingle Community School. The building unit of The Department of Education has instructed the design team to proceed to tender. The Christian Brothers and the convent schools are due to amalgamate creating a need for the new school building. The Christian Brothers have had problems housing students since a fire gutted part of their premises at the monastery on New Year`s Day.An extensive Garda investigation is underway into the matter and hundreds of students have been fingerprinted in the course of the inquiry. Its welcome investment in the Dingle area after concern was expressed about the future for the promised community hospital. The facility which was due to start construction this year appears to have been taken off the building list and health care professionals have been unable to find out what stage the project is at. Locals will be hoping the new community school will proceed without a hitch. Today`s announcement is being welcomed by Minister John O Donohue.
