Less enforcement has led to a drop in penalty points being issued in Kerry.
That’s according to Sinn Féin Spokesperson on Regional Development, Rural Affairs, Arts, and the Gaeltacht, Peadar Tóibín.
He was speaking after the Road Safety Authority released data to him on penalty points, which show that Kerry has one of the lowest rates of penalty points being issued.
Deputy Tóibín says Kerry and other counties highlighted as having low penalty points rates, have the highest numbers of road fatalities.
He feels the number of points being issued has dropped over the past 10 years ago, and believes more enforcement is needed.
