Taxi fares in Tralee will continue to be reviewed says the pro of taxi drivers Pat McAuliffe. The number of taxi plates in Tralee and Killarney have more than trebled since the market was deregulated in 2000. In Tralee there 18 plated in 2000 but by December 2003, this had grown to 76, a four fold increase.The increase in petrol prices has affected taxi drivers and Pat McAuliffe says their recent hike in charges was in line with inflation. He says any increase in fares is a matter for the Town Council and the taxi drivers.
