Taoiseach will be in Kerry for conference of global charity foundation

A global charitable foundation that’s raised more than 500 million dollars to help Irish communities worldwide is holding its annual conference in Kerry. Taoiseach Enda Kenny Taoiseach Enda Kenny will be guest of honour at a gala dinner hosted by the Worldwide Ireland Funds in Killarney tomorrow evening. Since it was founded in 1976, the Worldwide Irish Funds has helped over 3,000 Irish charities. Its influence can be measured  by those who will be attending the annual conference which begins this evening and runs until Saturday. US Ambassador to Ireland, Kevin O’Malley will be present along with the Candaidan Ambassador Kevin Vickers. Also there will be former US Ambassador Dan Rooney who founded the philantrophic network with businessman Tony O’Reilly. The conference will be held in The Europe Hotel. This evening BBC Foreign Correspondent Fergal Keane will receive the organisation’s 25,000 dollars annual literary award at Muckross House, presented by broadcaster Olivia O’Leary.
