Student tells of shock over sudden closure of Tralee's Brookfield College

A student due to start 5^th year in Brookfield College says he’s shocked and disheartened at the school’s sudden closure.

Jude Pierse, who’s from Ballyduff, was speaking after Brookfield College in Monavalley, Tralee informed students yesterday evening via email that it was closing and not accepting senior cycle students for this academic year.

Brookfield College told students that it had suffered a significant loss as a result of the COVID-19 crisis.

Jude Pierse, who had paid a deposit of €1,500 in the middle of August and had purchased his books for the upcoming year, says he’s disappointed the school didn’t notify students earlier.

He says finding placements only days out from the start of the school year will be difficult.
