John Treacy will retire as Sport Ireland's Chief Executive at the end of this year.
The 64-year-old has been in the position since Sport Ireland was established in 2015, and was previously in charge of the Irish Sports Council.
Treacy was an Olympic marathon silver medallist at the Los Angeles Games in 1984.
