Rathmore are the last side to qualify for the Garvey's SuperValu County Senior Football Championship ¼ finals.
They’ve beaten Shannon Rangers 3-12 to 1-14.
With the sides tied at a point apiece in the 5th minute John Moynihan netted for the club side. Rathmore had the next 2 points, and they were ahead by 1-3 to 0-1 sixteen minutes into the encounter. Rangers hit back, putting over back to back points of their own. That made it 1-3 to 0-3 after 20 minutes. The gap remained at three 2 minutes out from half time at 1-5 to 0-5. Rathmore were in front by 1-8 to 5 points at the short whistle.
After Rangers scored the opening 2 points of the second period Rathmore goaled through Padraig Moynihan to open up a 2-8 to 7 points advantage after 35 minutes. The lead stood at 2-10 to 10 points at the 3/4 stage, and 2-12 to 13 points in the final minute. A goal from Rangers sub Liam Guiney ate into that advantage. However, Rathmore went right up the other end to net themselves, this time through Ciaran Collins. That settled the issue as Rathmore advanced.
