Palace forward due to make return for FA Cup quarter-final

Crystal Palace forward Jean-Philippe Mateta is due to make his return for this weekend's FA Cup quarter-final tie against Fulham.

The French striker will wear a specialised protective mask if he makes his first appearance since the serious injury he suffered at Millwall during the previous round of the competition.

Mateta required 25 stitches to his left ear - after a high challenge from Millwall goalkeeper Liam Roberts.

It's understood Chelsea are still expected to sign Jadon Sancho permanently in the summer despite the emergence of a get-out clause in the deal to sign him from Manchester United.

The London club would be due to pay a five-million-pound penalty payment to his parent club if they decide not to fulfil the obligation of buying the England winger.

The 24-year-old is without a goal or assist since early January.
