St.Kierans have booked their place in the last 8 of the Garvey's SuperValu County Senior Football Championship.
They’ve overcome Spa 1-12 to 1-9 to progress.
Kierans led by 4 points to 1 after 10 minutes. Spa got it back to a one point game by the quarter hour mark before David Spillane's goal had them in front. That made it 1-3 to 0-4 after 18 minutes. The next score was also a goal, Adam Barry netting a 23rd minute penalty for Kierans. Kierans led 1-6 to 1-5 at the break.
Spa got it back to 1-7 apiece before Kierans were reduced to 14 men 7 minutes into the second period. Corner back Isaac Brosnan was the man to be red carded. Philip O'Connor pointed Kierans in front once more, but again Spa levelled. Kierans were 2 clear by the 51 minute mark at 1-11 to 1-9. There was no score over the next 15 minutes until a Kierans point put them 3 clear and that was the winning margin.
