Abbeydorney have beaten debutants Dr. Crokes in the County Senior Hurling Championship.
In Group 3 at Austin Stack Park it finished Abbeydorney 0-18 Dr. Crokes 0-17.
Abbeydorney led by 3 points to 1 inside 4 minutes but were proving quite wasteful, hitting 3 wides and missing two goal chances. The Abbeydorney lead was down to a single point by the 15 minute mark at 4 points to 3. The gap increased to 4 come the 18 minute mark. 3 minutes from half-time Crokes had made it a 1 point game at 0-7 to 0-6. At the break Abbeydorney led by 10 points to 6.
Abbeydorney extended the advantage to 14 points to 8 by the 40th minute and led 15-10 at the 3/4 stage. With 9 minutes to go the gap was 5, at 0-17 to 0-12. Crokes were not giving up, going on to make it a 4 point game. Crokes added another point when a goal chance was on-the gap was now just 3 at 17 points to 14. Crokes got within 2 but Abbeydorney made it a 3 point game as 5 added on minutes began. Again Crokes hit back and pointed, twice. It was now 18 points to 17 with time almost up and that's how it ended.
