Spa residents hold public meeting to oppose mobile phone mast.

A group of residents opposed to a meteor mobile phone mast for the Spa area claims the proposal is in direct contravention of the County Development Plan. The group is to hold a public meeting this week to highlight their concerns at the proposal. The County Development Plan says masts should not be located within one kilometer of residential buildings, schools or hospitals but locals claim at least 45 houses are within the one kilometer limit.A group calling itself Amach – the Anti Mast Association of Churchill is calling on locals to make their objections known to Kerry County Council. Objections to the meteor mast must be lodged before the 28th of January and Thursday`s meeting is likely to encourage locals to submit their objections ahead of that closing date. Last week a spokesman for Meteor told Radio Kerry News he would be happy to meet the Amach committee to discuss their concerns and allay their fears.
