A new decision date has been issued for the South Kerry Greenway.
An oral hearing on the proposed 32-kilometre route between Glenbeigh and Renard took place last October and November.
A decision on the project itself and the Compulsory Purchase Order for the lands needed has been postponed several times; some landowners object to the CPO and the proposed greenway route.
A spokesperson for An Bord Pleanala says the current system generated target decision date is October 9th next; the planning inspector's report on both cases is completed and the files are currently at Board level for decision.
Cathaoirleach of Kerry County Council Cllr Patrick Connor Scarteen says he hopes there will be no more delays and that the board gives the project, which he believes is vital for the county, the go ahead.
