Sod is turned for new palliative care centre

The first sod will be turned this afternoon at 3 pm on the building of a new Palliative Care Centre in the grounds of Kerry General hospital. This unit will provide essential day care facilities for cancer sufferers and their families and will be a vital back up to the present hospital and home care services in Kerry.The unit, will cost over 3 million Euro, and been primarily funded by the people of Kerry through the Irish Hospice foundation. The health service executive has also contributed half a million Euro. The first sod will be turned by The Chairman of the Kerry Hospice Foundation fundraising committee Ted Moynihan.
