Sinn Fein TD calls for bank engagement at protest in Tralee

Sinn Fein protest   Kerry Sinn Féin TD Martin Ferris has lead a protest outside banks in Tralee today. Sinn Féin say the protest is “to highlight the government’s continuing failure to deal with mortgage debt crisis and the banks aggressive behaviour towards those in mortgage distress.” This week saw financial institutions take 65 repossession cases against people in Kerry at the Circuit Court in Tralee. Deputy Ferris says they had brought a reform Bill before the government in 2013 which would have enhanced legal protections for mortgage holders and effectively make the repossession process harder, however it did not receive support. Speaking at the protest, Martin Ferris says the banks need to sit down and engage with these people in Kerry. [audio_player src=””]
