Sinn Féin councillor Toiréasa Ferris has said that the HSE has serious questions to answer over the review of patient scans.

Cllr Ferris said while she was glad that no serious cases of misdiagnoses have emerged so far, concerns remain over how the situation has been handled.

The Tralee councillor and Sinn Féin Kerry constituency candidate said many would have waited lengthy periods on lists to be scanned in the first place.

She said hospital management and the HSE must explain to the public, when did they become aware of the issue and why has it taken a number of months for this to come to light.
